Supporting the delivery of sustainable infrastructure
Project investment over the next 20 years provides the industry with an opportunity to not only improve the transport, energy and utility infrastructure, but also to deliver significant reductions in environmental impacts and improvements in the value that society receives from this public investment.
Clients are demanding more sustainable practices; stakeholders are exerting more pressure and legislation is becoming increasingly stringent. As a result, the demand for supply chains to provide efficient, green and ethical solutions as normal business routine is increasing.
The School’s Infrastructure Leadership Group brings together professionals from across the industry with a joint vision: develop materials, knowledge and content that focus on the specific needs of the Infrastructure Sector.
Network Rail’s “Greener Railway Strategy” brings together shared environmental and social priorities for the UK railway industry. The strategy builds on the Sustainable Rail Blueprint, developed by the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).
The School has worked closely with Network Rail, RSSB, and a range of major contractors, suppliers and industry stakeholders to provide a series of Learning Pathways which support the Greener Railway Strategy. This free, practical learning will enable the supply chain to play an active role in delivering the strategy. Our resources are arranged under headings aligned to Network Rail’s strategy and can be used by companies and all their staff – from senior management to site operatives.

“As an infrastructure partner in the School, we believe that working in partnership with our supply chain is the best way to make things happen at scale.”Nathalie Ritchie, Supply Chain CSR Manager, National Grid
